I feel absolutely rotten, I've got stomach ache I feel sick and tired, so I'm stopping now.
I feel I don't necessarily have to write anything below this particular masterpiece.
I had an idyllic childhood, growing up in a small village on the very edge of the Peak District with Sheffield a single bus journey away. I decided to write a diary. This quickly became a chore and thus the scant document of my life at this tender age makes it look like I was just plain bored the whole time. All of the grammar, spellings and capitalisation etc are copied as written from my diary from the 1st part of 1988. This, unfortunately is the only diary I have ever kept.

I went to Judo tonight I've got about 3 injuries two bruises on my leg and I nearly sprained my ankle I have just noticed I have got a right lump on my leg I want to rest it because it hurts so I'm stopping now
It's even a surprise to me that I was so unaware of what I was supposed to be writing here to make it a worthwhile read for anyone at any point ever. I mean, clearly I never thought that 27 years later I would be putting my diary on a worldwide network of information for anyone to find but still...
I can't remember why I decided to start keeping a diary, it wasn't a school assignment and I don't remember my parents encouraging me to do so. Maybe I read Adrian Mole and was inspired but I'd like to think that if that was the genesis of it, I would have maybe taken a few cues from those books and ACTUALLY WRITE SOMETHING OF SOME WORTH. You know, like feelings, opinions, actual stories or possibly even some bloomin DETAIL. Take this particular entry, I went to judo and got injured. Anyone else writing about that would possibly have talked about how I got those injuries but not Neil RJ Dowling.
A note on my language, I'm from The North and the word 'right' means something different up there, one may think of the sentence above as '...I have got a proper lump on my leg...'
I'm stopping typing now as my toe aches.

I played on my computer most of today but I did go down to the park with paul we were on our bikes (that was after church) my nanan has Just gone home I have got to go to sleep now because it's school in the morning!
So... Just to let you know that my computer is either my Spectrum 48k with the rubber keys, or my Acorn Electron. Anyone familiar with home computers in 1988 will therefore know that playing on my computer all day meant spending at least an hour or two waiting for games to load from the tape deck. I used to play Chuckie Egg a lot. As well as one which was set in a school, can't remember the name of it right now, I never really followed the rules (or worked out the actual point of the game) and therefore ended up getting expelled a lot (exactly the opposite of my real life, kinda the point of computer games I guess).
Again, there's very little to comment on here. I've not really elaborated on anything, I've barely bothered with punctuation, let alone storytelling. I will once again apologise for my 10 year old self and his thorough lack of understanding of the point of a diary.

Me and Mum went to Chesterfield today because Dad was at a football match. I got a Jumper and two Pairs of socks and a pair of Slippers. Mum got leotard and Tights (or tites if I got it wrong the first time). I was playing on my computer until 9.30pm the only other thing is we got the Guinea pigs out this morning.
This entry could basically be the only one and you would have an idea of the whole darn thing. It's all here, the stock list of things, the weird capitalisations and the refrain of 'the only other thing' at the end of the missive.
Oh and the brag about how late I stayed up. Again, who am I bragging to? Who is it that might care if I spelled 'tights' wrong?
There will be a point at which the entries become a bit longer. The last few have been a bit short, kinda leaves me with little to say that hasn't already been said really.

My Dad, me, George and Trina (she is my nanan's dog) went for a walk in the woods this morning we were out for about 3 hours! And Julian has got a full sized skateboard it is about 7 inches wide and two feet long its amazing it mademy skateboard look right tich. on the way home from the woods we went past a farm and there was a caravan parked there and on the back window of it there was a sticker that looked tike this.....
So... sorry for the massive hiatus in the updates of this, I have no excuses other than my own laziness. Let's crack on with the withering comments on the thoughts and writing of a defenceless 10 year old.
As ever (and as you can see from the photo above what I'm working with here) I have left it sic erat scriptum, hence the word tike rather than like, the new portmanteau word 'mademy' and the non-capitalised o which commences the 3rd breathless sentence. But grammar aside... what the hell am talking about here? Wouldn't you rather know what the afternoon was like with me on my 'right tich' skateboard and Julian on his two footer? I vaguely remember that afternoon, I think we took it in turns to fall off his 'Allprou' board... I never really got any better than that.
Can you believe that we were out in the morning for 3 hours? What utter lunatics! What could we possibly have been doing for 3 hours with 2 dogs in the woods? Maybe it was something like walking, throwing sticks and generally being out in the fresh air like normal folks.
All in this is a fairly innocuous missive. There are many many many more embarrassing things coming up at some point... FACT.

We went to town I got some stonewash jeans. In Hamleys they have got one of those globes with electrical current in them and when you put your hand onit a sort of electric line comes up to your hand.
Nothing else happened today apart from Prince Charles went to Sheffield and we never saw him.
Oh my... "a sort of electric line".
As far as I know, this was my 1st foray into the world of stonewash... this was the 1st time they were fashionable. I remember them quite well, I was quite the talk of the school (I was not quite the talk of the school) and I looked bloody amazing in them (I did not look bloody amazing in them).
Can you believe we never saw Prince Charles? I guess if he knew there was one of those globes with electrical current in them in Hamley's, then he'd have been there with us.

ChinesenewyearandashWednesday Wednesday 17th February
It's the year of the dragon and my dad, me and Paul went on a bike ride to Sicklebrook farm. We went to Sainsburys and we met mrs Webb who was a student teacher at our school when I was in the first year but apart from that nothing else happened (still no valentines cards (everybody say aah) I have written that before try and find where?
2 things should be obvious by now: 1) I am not good at regularly blogging and 2) at age 10 I had no perception of what was interesting to write in a diary.
The title of this blog should also make more sense if you've been wondering, nothing much happened today... apart from all the things I've listed but not commented on, fleshed out in any meaningful detail or thought about... I worry about the little me that's still locked away inside somewhere.
Also, it continues to bend my mindspace that I left little things like "I have written that before, try and find where?" (the question mark is there for no real reason). Just who the heck did I think was reading this in the 1st place? And how likely are they to want to go back and find the 1st time I wrote that, and when they do find it, what are they to do with the information? There's no prize, the 10 year old me isn't going to shake their hand or anything... I'm odd.
